Team Play
Possibly the most overlooked aspect of “team sports” is the team itself. Many players, parents, and fans alike, focus on individual results and forget that the team is most important. The development of working in a team environment is essential for future growth in the game of hockey, the business world, and in life.
Hand Skills
The ability to play with the puck in today’s game is increasingly important. A majority of the on-ice sessions incorporate hand skill development. Being able to possess the puck and distribute it to your team mates is what separates good and great players at all levels.
Individual Skills
The best way to contribute to team results is to work harder on the thing you can control the most, yourself. Hockey players that are able to play the game with confidence and a high skill level reward the team with positive results. Warrior AAA teams focus on play-making, vision, and concepts/drills that promote the development of hockey sense.
Team/Player Ability
It is our goal to field teams that have players with comparable ability level. We believe it is imperative for each team member to be a contributor and involved in the outcome of each game. We do not want to put players in a situation where they are not able to score, make plays, and have success on the ice. The players on each Warrior AAA team are still young and the last thing we want to do is make the game to challenging for any individual.
Player Development
We believe that players develop at different rates. That may seem obvious to many people but recently there has been a new way of thinking regarding hockey. Some programs/individuals believe or sell the idea that if you are not one of the best by the time you are 10-11 you will not amount to anything in hockey! Our staff has seen a lot and can tell you about players that dominated in Squirts but failed to make the high school team. Or the player that finally grew in high school and is now playing in the NHL. Regardless of where our team members end up it is our goal to provide them with quality instruction, fundamentals, and a positive environment so they can reach their full potential!
Parent Conduct
If you are a parent that feels the need to yell at refs, belittle youth hockey players, or curse the coach then Warrior AAA is not the place for your son or daughter. Again this may seem obvious but there are more and more parents living through their kid’s hockey experience. Parent conduct in the stands as well as before and after games reflects positively or negatively on the program you represent. It is acceptable to cheer on your child and provide a fun and positive environment for them. Life is short and your time with your son or daughter is even shorter. Make it a memorable experience!
Fun
The game of hockey is supposed to be fun! Our coaches and staff will do everything they can to interject FUN into every practice they run. The goal is to have our players excited to come back to the rink. Would you honestly like to skate for an hour without pucks and have a guy yelling at you the entire time? No. So we won’t do that to your kids!
